Red Bull Battle of the Sund Published

Battle of the Sund will take place. The Red Bull Battle of the Sund is an endurance kite-board competition that 200 participants will take part of and this will be on August 16, 2014. They will start at the same time at the beach of Ribersborg in Malmö, Sweden. The race heading to Denmark will be approximately 40km long. 

Flakfortet, a sea fort located on the artificially built island of Saltholmreb, is the turning point. The contestants will round it and kite back to Ribersborg. As expected, the first and fastest rider to do this sequence back and forth will be crowned the title of the Ruler of the Sund! The participating kiteboarders will have a spot on the official camping site by the event area, which is included in the 200SEK starting fee. The competition will have two divisions: the Women Twintip and Open, and the Men Twintip and Open. Qualifications include that the contestant must be over 15 years old to participate. If you are under 18, a signed waiver must come from a guardian. A mandatory riders meeting for all participants will also happen at Ribersborgs Strand on the day of the race, August 16, 2014, between 12:00 to 12:30. Competitors must follow the marked route. 

The race starts when the kiteboarder and his/her entire board cross the starting line and if a surfer crosses before the start signal, then he is up for disqualification. The same thing applies as well when the kiteboarders reach Flakfortet. The turning point must be completely rounded before they go back to Sweden. If otherwise, they will be disqualified. Lastly, for the kiteboarders to complete the race, they must cross the finish line with their entire board. Simple. Red Bull will provide safety equipment for all participants in form of a RESTUBE and this is mandatory for all participants for the whole race. The contestants shall also abide to the standard safety and traffic rules. 

Safety boats and rescue personnel, in both land and water, will be around to ensure everyone’s safety. Common sense and fair play must be practiced at all times. Moreover, intoxicated people will not be permitted to join the competition. This is an event organized for fun and enjoyment! The beach of Ribersborg is the base camp for the competition. If you are not a participant, you are still very welcome to join and watch the intense race from start to finish, including the awaited prize ceremony. These are all free of charge. This is an awesome opportunity to gather with fellow beach buddies and kiteboarding enthusiasts. You can also hang out and meet new friends.
